09/10/18 Sustainability at Tesla?
Tesla has no reference for “Building Sustainable”. While BMW, Toyota and other large car manufacturers make this a key aspect of how they build cars and will build cars in the future Tesla does not seem to care. The hype of saving the planet seems to somehow cover this absence. Proof of this is evident in their mission statement. Tesla writes “Tesla’s mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy”. This doesn’t really make sense and is at odds with what people might believe Tesla’s mission is. What exactly is “sustainable energy” if the cars that are powered by this energy are not constructed with sustainability in mind? Can Tesla build a car that produces toxic waste so long as the end product runs on electricity? Does Tesla care about pollution or how a partnering company creates the parts in their vehicles?
